Wolfred Carlock Stooksbury, age 88, passed away January 3, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. He was a member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church.
Carlock was born February 7, 1923, at the family farm in Union County, TN, now known as Point 19 of Norris Lake. He was a graduate of Norris High School and Knoxville Business College. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served with the 172nd Field Artillery and participated in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944.
In 1959 Carlock built, along with cousins, John Rice and David Irwin, the Little Senator Drive-In Restaurant outside of Norris, which he and his wife, Juanita, owned and operated for 30 years. Carlock was an original member of the Museum of Appalachia Band playing the mouth-bow, Jews' Harp, harmonica and spoons. He loved to entertain and amuse people of all ages and from all countries.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Juanita Jones Stooksbury; parents, Eli and Mary Jane Mitchell Stooksbury; sisters, Estelle Hill, Alverta Stooksbury, Grace Rutherford and Jimmie Stooksbury; grandsons, Jason Bright and Randy Brown.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 7th from 11-1PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will be at 1 o'clock with Father Joe Minarek officiating. Interment with full military honors will then follow at Norris Memorial Gardens in Norris. Pallbearers will be Steven Leitner, Craig Shields, Adam Talley, Nick and Alex Tavangaran and Kevin Cei. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sinking Springs United Methodist Church or St. Francis Episcopal Church in Norris.
