Wanda Jean Cheek (Mim) age 83 of Clinton Tennessee departed this earthly world and entered into the Heavenly world at 2:35am on August 22nd 2014. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Gladys Morley; brothers William, Bronson and Joe Morley; brother-in-laws Rhea Cheek and wife Beatrice, Charles Wright, Ernest Glass, and Raymond Musick; sister-in-laws Kathleen Morley and Ovada Morley; and son-in-law Ronnie Jeffers.
Survived by husband J.E. Cheek; daughters Valerie Lenderman and husband James and Kim Jeffers; grandchildren Brad Lenderman and wife Cristy, Jeanna Bernard and husband Shane; great-grandchildren Shelby Lenderman, Brooklynn Shubert, and Austin Bernard; sisters Dorothy Glass and Peggy Musick; brother and sister-in-laws Faye Morley, Harold Cheek and wife Henrietta, Charlotte Hensley and husband Rex, Violet Givens and husband Carl, Odus Cheek and wife Sandy, Sherann Witt and husband Larry, and Clyo Wright; and many nieces and nephews, especially Johnny Morley and Terry Glass.
Jean was a member of Eastern Star. She was an outgoing person and loved most sports (baseball, basketball, and bowling) and she really enjoyed watching her great-granddaughters pitch fast pitch softball She led a group of Senior Citizens for many years while a member of New Salem Baptist Church. They made numerous trips to places of interest and they met for dinner each month at the church and enjoyed each others cooking and friendship. She was presently a member of Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church of Clinton where she was adored by many people, both young and old.
The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2014 with funeral service to follow, pastors Joey Cagley and Travis Freeman officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am, Monday at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens in Oak Ridge. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. holleygamblefh.com
