Walter L. Bullock, of Clinton, TN, went home to Heaven to be with his Savior on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the age of 88. Walter was born in Coal Creek, TN on June 21, 1923, to George and Mossie Bullock. He grew up on Vowell Mountain near Lake City, TN with his siblings. He entered the US Navy at the age of 18 and served on the USS Biloxi during WWII. After the war, he lived in Detroit, MI, where he met his beloved wife of 61 years, Doris Johns Bullock. In 1957, they moved to Clinton, TN with their three children, Debbie, Barbara and Jeffery. There he began a 21-year career as an insurance agent with Prudential Ins. Co. After retiring from Prudential, Walter and his brother Elbert opened the Clinton Recappers, which later became the Clinton Tire Terminal. Walter was a faithful member of the Oak Ridge Bible Church, which is now the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, in Oak Ridge, TN. He shared the love of Christ and the way of salvation with everyone he met. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He continuously shared with them the importance of knowing Jesus and living their lives to honor Him. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mossie Bullock, brother, Eddie, sister, Pauline Utley, and his son, Jeffery Dean Bullock. He is survived by his wife Doris, of Clinton, TN, daughters, Debbie Robbins (and husband Dennis) of Lawrenceville, GA, Barbara Lehrman (and husband Tony) of Tucson, AZ; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bullock (deceased husband Jeffery) of Clinton, TN; grandchildren Vernon Ferguson III, Nathan Ferguson (and wife Ashley), Brooke Ellison, Melissa Defer (and husband Will), Brianne Robbins, Zachary Bullock (and fianc� Amanda Parfitt), Lindsey Lowe (and husband Jake) and Bethany Robbins; great-grandchildren Chance, Cameron, Chloe, Andrew and Angel Ferguson, Mason and Madeline Ferguson, Tyler Ellison, Makyla and Jaxon Lowe and Liam DeFer; brothers, Oris, Elbert and Delious, and sister, Mary Alice Marlow, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends. Walter's family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, 612 S Charles G Seivers Blvd, Clinton, TN, Thursday, August 11th from 6-8 pm. His funeral will be held Friday, August 12th, at 11:00AM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 1451 Bethel Valley Rd, Oak Ridge, TN. Following the funeral, Walter will be buried at the Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery at 393 Longfield Rd, Lake City, TN. Donations may be made in Walter's memory to The Gideons International.
