Virgil Wilkerson Rains, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 24, 2012.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee, where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Maude Rains; son, Michael Gregory Rains; brother, Bill Rains; and sisters, Margie Duncan and Helen Kincaid.
He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Charlotte Shorter Rains; sons, Randall Marc (Betty) Rains and Charles Eric Rains; grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Sullivan, Martin (Allison) Rains, Heath Rains, Josh Rains, Taylor Rains and Erika Rains; great grandchildren, Kali Rains, Rubyjane Rains and Clementine Sullivan; brothers, Jack (Virginia) Rains, Lynn (Celia) Rains and Eddie (Dryna) Rains; sister, May Nell (Billy Joe) Joslin.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 27th from 5-7PM at First Baptist Church in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Sam Dean and Rev. Terry Baker officiating. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 28th at 2:30PM at Black Oak Church cemetery in Clinton.
