Obituary

Verna Pauline Haufe (Phelps), 79, of Heiskell, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, December 20, 2021 at her home with her loving daughters at her side following an illness under Hospice care. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Haufe, Jr. We will always remember her smiling face and happiness, her enthusiasm and unbridled joy. Even at a young age, she was kind to everyone she met. My mother was a wonderful woman and constant support throughout my life. She loved to help her friends and family anyway she could. She worked 45 years at Methodist Medical Center to meet our family's needs and never complained. Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Verna Phelps, and her siblings Leamon Phelps, Bill Phelps, Shirley Sharp and Marilyn Dye. Survivors include sister, Lynn Goff, brother, Norman Phelps, daughters, Kimberly Reid (Will) and Jill Eubanks. Grandsons, Matthew Reid (Sarah), Nathan Reid (Becca), Travis Reid, Nick Eubanks (Denetra Freeman) and Colby Eubanks. Great Grandchildren, Cooper and Parker Reid, Ruth and Thomas Reid and Abel Freeman-Eubanks. Special sister in laws, Janice Hines and Deloris Phelps. And several nieces and nephews. Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever; the family would like to extend a special thank you to the Avalon Hospice staff and caregivers Tonya, Melissa and Vay, and for exceptional care. Services will be held Wednesday December 22, 2021 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home Clinton, TN 37716. The family will receive friends 11:00AM-1:00PM and Service will follow at 1:00PM officiated by Rev Stephen Gooch and Rev Tom Job. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Clinton TN. www.holleygamble.com
