Teresa (Terry) Shelton of Norris passed away at her home on March 13, 2017. Terry was so much - a contagious laugh, a fireball, a bear hug, a noisy bossy neighbor, an athlete, and a loving trusting accepting soul. As a young rambunctious little girl Terry was all over Norris on her bicycle or her on her stilts, usually with her boom box blaring. She attended school at Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center where she made them proud by participating in the first ever Special Olympics and going all the way to the nationals where she carried the torch for the opening ceremonies and took the blue ribbon in the 50 meter free swim. (Or as she so eloquently put it - she beat the socks off everyone). As an adult she loved her work at Taco Bell, Del Taco, and Ruby Tuesdays where she was a champion dishwasher for many years.

Terry was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Alma Duggins; mother, Barbara Shelton; brother Mike Shelton; father, Jack Shelton. Carrying on her memory are her sister Joanie Hughes, brother in law Hugo (Kelly) Hughes, idol and nephew Joe Hughes, nieces Emily Ott (Dave) and Katy Cross (Zach), nephews Glenn Shelton (Ruth) and Ryan Shelton (Lainey), aunts and uncles Bill and Mary Kay Jennings and Dick and Sandy Duggins, and a bunch of loving great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends including Joel Brindley and her California family. Special, special thanks to Verlin Don Phillips for being her friend and protector these last few years and to her great niece Heidi Jo Cross, a fun loving baby who laughed with Terry and brightened her last months!

A party in Terry's honor will be held on April 1, 2017 at the Museum of Appalachia at 1:00pm. Keith Haverkamp her favorite "church principal" will lead the festivities. Please bring memories, stories, photos, guitars, and hugs.
