Obituary

Sheela Jaiwant Rangnekar
 Nov 17th 1929 - Feb 6 th 2026
With deep reverence, we announce the peaceful journey towards salvation (Sadgati) of our beloved mother at the age of 96. She was a scholar (Vidushi) in her own right, devoted to her family and the upliftment of society.May her soul (Atma) find peace (Shanti) and continue its journey toward the Divine Light. While her soul may have departed the memories and legacy she has left behind is forever.
Sheela was born on November 17, 1929 in Sirsi a small village in Karnataka state in India. Education was very important to her, and after her schooling, she went completed her bachelor of education and went on to teach English and Sanskrit language. She was very progressive in her time and instilled the importance of education to her children. She was married on June 10, 1960 to Jaiwant Rangnekar who was in the police force. They had three children. 2 sons and a daughter.
To us she will always be remembered as a loving mother our "Aye", and adorable grandmother "Ajji " not just to her grandchildren but to everyone in Knoxville. She treated everyone with utmost dignity and could relate to people of all ages asking the most appropriate information and always made it about them. She has helped so many financially and emotionally and was the rock of the family. The Almighty has honored her with a coveted chair in heaven as she joins papa and her siblings. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Knoxville community for being a great support system.
Gone but never forgotten.
Om Shanti
