Sarah Tammy Torres, 47, of Lake City, Tennessee lost a three-month battle with cervical cancer on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Sarah was born on March 21, 1964 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to Lemual Augustas and Alma Newman. She married her beloved husband, Ralph David Torres, on June 30, 1980. The loving couple spent thirty-one wonderful years together.
Sarah was an incredible homemaker, a loving mother, and a delightful grandmother. She cherished her grandchildren greatly and loved spending time with them. She was an avid photographer who had a remarkable gift. Sarah had a passion for the sea. She loved being at the beach with her family and friends. Sarah adored visiting lighthouses and photographing their beauty. Two of her favorite things to do were reading Edgar Allen Poe books and writing in her journal. Sarah is preceded in death by parents Lemual Augustas and Alma Newman ; father-in-law, Ralph Torres; and her sister, Linda Jones.

And many other relatives and friends.

A memorial to celebrate Sarah's life will be held at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City, Tennessee on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2PM. Receiving of family and friends will be held from 1-2PM.
