Samuel Glen Goddard, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully entered the arms of his Savior on September 20, 2026. Born on July 30, 1938, in Kingston, Tennessee, Sam was the son of Vernon and Anna Goddard. Throughout his 88 years, he touched countless lives with his steady kindness, easy smile, and deep, unwavering faith.

Sam carried a quiet joy wherever he went. He was known for his gentle spirit, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his remarkable ability to face life’s challenges without complaint. Whether he was fishing, tinkering with a project, or tending to his vegetable garden, Sam found joy in life’s simple pleasures.

A faithful member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church, Sam served as a deacon for many years. He loved his church family deeply and was never shy about sharing his testimony of the Lord’s goodness and the many blessings God had given him. His faith was not simply something he spoke about - it was evident in the way he lived his life and cared for others.

Sam and his beloved wife, Erma, shared 66 years of marriage. Sam cherished Erma deeply and spent his life devoted to her happiness, always putting her needs before his own. His love for her was evident in all that he did.

Although he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing he is in the presence of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, whom he testified about so faithfully, and is resting in the peace he spoke of so often.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Anna Goddard, and his brother, Gordon Goddard.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Goddard; children, Gary Goddard (Nancy), Naomi Breeden (Michael), and Jeanette Davis (Chester); grandchildren, Stephen Davis (Karissa), Jonathan Tackett (Destiny), and Katelyn Copeland (Zach); great-grandchildren, Mason and Porter Copeland; sister, Joyce Grubb (James Ivan) and Shelby Goddard.

Services are as follows:

Visitation: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM

Graveside Service: Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton, at 11:00 AM.
