Samuel David Emert Sr, age 83 of Powell, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He loved Jesus, wood-working, chickens, and his family. Sam was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church but was raised Church of God of the Union Assembly.

Sam is preceded in death by his loving wife, Pearl Elizabeth Emert; his parents, William and Helen Emert; children, Lee Thomas, Joe Thomas, and Beverly Williams; brother, Frank Emert; and sister, Lorraine Weaver.

Sam is survived by his brother, Harold Emert; sons, Samuel David (Bobbie) Emert, Jr., Dean (Sharon) Emert, Jamie Emert, Brian Emert; daughters, Margaret (Mack) Sherwood, Sandra Emert, Glenda Owens, Darlene (Steve) Shelton, Ann Emert, and Annette Emert; 28 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 44 great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of extended family and friends. Special thanks to Rebecca Wyrick for her care and compassion for Sam over the past months.

The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Ricky Hayes and Pastor Kenneth Cardwell officiating. Family and friends will meet at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at 12:30 PM and go in a funeral procession to Grandview Memorial Garden for a 1:00 PM graveside.
