Samantha Scott White, age 99, of Clinton, TN, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016. She was born on July 22, 1917, in Boyd County, KY. Samantha was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, playing bingo, and just being with family.
She is preceded in death by husbands Ivan Cooper (28 yrs.) and Giltz E. White (18 yrs.); parents Richard Edward and Cora Belle (Hunt) Scott, five sisters, and one brother. She is survived by daughter Carolyn Jenkinson and husband John of Clinton, TN; son Gary Cooper and wife Barbara of Parker, CO; grandchildren: John C. Jenkinson and wife Heather of Knoxville, TN, Scott Jenkinson and wife Winona of Johnson City, TN, and Joseph Cooper of Parker, CO; great-grandchildren: Samantha Jenkinson of Knoxville, TN; Asher and Roan Jenkinson of Johnson City, TN. She will also be missed by her faithful visitor Diane Skeens and her "family" at Meadow View Senior Living, whose attention and care these past five years have been greatly appreciated.
Visitation will be at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton on Tuesday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00, the Revs. Larry Webster and Tom Byrge officiating. Interment will be on Saturday, August 27, at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, OH. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.holleygamble.com
