(Thelma) Ruth Burress Wright
Ruth Burress Wright passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at NHC HealthCare in Oak Ridge. She was 83 years old. Ruth was one of five children born to Louis and Sarah Elizabeth West Burress in the New River section of Campbell County, TN. Ruth married Coy Wright of Campbell County on August 25, 1945 in Caryville, TN. They were married 44 years prior to his death in March of 1993. Ruth was a family homemaker and she enjoyed fishing trips with her husband, raising a garden and tending the beautiful flowers she grew. She was also a gifted quilter, seamstress and tatter, who had the ability to sew clothing without patterns. Always a busy person and hard worker, she kept a wonderful home and attractive yard.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Wright; parents, Louis and Sarah Burress; brother, Willie Burress; sisters, Edith Wallace and Pearl Burress; son in-law, Leon Jeffers; grandchildren, Scott Simmons, Crystal Watson Bunch, Coy Lynn Wright and grandson's wife, Theresa Phillips Jeffers.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 6th from 4-6PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating. Graveside service will be Sunday, October 7th at 2PM at the Dutch Valley United Methodist Church cemetery off Sulphur Springs Road in Clinton. Dan Hatmaker will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ruth can be made to benefit the residents of NHC by contacting NHC Activities at 300 Laboratory Road in Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or by calling 865-482-7698. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
