Roy L. "Pete" Leinart went home to be with God on September 4, 2010. He was born July 17, 1916 in Lake City, Tennessee, the son of Millard and Bonnie Greene Leinart, and a life-long resident of Anderson County. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Clinton where he sand in the Sanctuary Choir and taught a Junior Boy's Sunday School Class for many years. In later years, he especially enjoyed the Adult I Sunday School Group and the Primetime XYZ Senior Group.

Pete was a veteran of World War II assigned to the 1080 Amphibious Engineers, serving in the European theatre. He was a member of the Coal Creek Lodge #492, a Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Kerbela Temple Shriners. After attending the University of Tennessee College of Agriculture, he was co-manager of the Norris Boat Dock. Pete later retired from ORNL where he worked as a supervisor in the maintenance division.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-nine years, Gertrude Cobble Leinart, and his brothers, Mack and Joe Leinart.

He will be greatly missed by his surviving family: wife Thelma Holbert Leinart of Rochester Hills, Michigan; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Jack Hutchins of Clinton, sister, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Fox of Clinton and sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe (Dorothy) Leinart of Powell; nieces and nephews, Barry and Lori Hutchins of Clinton, Karen and Dennis Barreira of Clinton, Tommy and Debi Fox of Clinton, Al and Alescia Leinart of Powell, and Darla and Joel Bayless of Clinton; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 5:30-7:00p.m. Pete's Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00p.m. with Rev. Stan Elliott and Rev. Terry Baker officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:00a.m. at Leach Cemetery in Lake City.
