Rowena Chester escaped this vale of tears on Friday, Dec 2, 2022, at Briarcliff Assisted Living center after
a mercifully brief encounter with Senile Dementia.
At 87, Rowena had the debatable luck of out-living all known relatives of her generation.
A true modern pioneer, She was one of the first women of her generation to graduate from Cornell
University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Subsequently, she had a long, fulfilling and rewarding
career at ORNL. Retiring at the end of the cold war, she consulted on several standing committees in the
US on international standards. She lived all her adult life on a small farm in Anderson County.
She is survived by her daughter Valerie and her son Matthew.
