Rosetta Cox King
Rosetta Cox King, age 90, of Clinton passed away peacefully in her
home on Monday, December 12, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Clinton, Tennessee, on July 14, 1921. Rosetta
married the love of her life, Henry Clay King, in June of 1940.
Together, they raised five children. Some of her hobbies included
quilting, canning vegetables, and cooking. She was infamously known
in this area for her delicious pies. Rosetta worked in Oak Ridge at
Luvman's for several years and then at Miller's Department store in
Knoxville. She also worked at the Anderson County elections office
for over 25 years. Rosetta wrote a column in the Clinton Courier for
over twenty years entitled "Bethel News". Mrs. King was very
passionate about important community issues and served on many
committees to better her town. Rosetta was solely responsible for
getting Bethel Community incorporated in the 1980's.
Rosetta had a very strong love for God, her church, and her family.
She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family on a Sunday
after church with everyone eating a meal prepared by her.
Rosetta is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years,
(Henry Clay King, parents (Raymond and Hiley Cox), sisters ( Bonnie
Cox, Grace Wallace), brothers (Elmore Cox, Odell Cox, and Raymond
Cox), and nephews (Christopher Cox, and Jerry Cox).
She is survived by her sister, Lou Bowling, her two sons and
daughters-in-law (Charles and Suzanne King of Clinton and David and Jo
Ann King of Oak Ridge), three daughters and sons-in-law (Judith and
Tom Dunlap of Virginia Beach, Darlene and Marvin Jerry Cooper of
Clinton and Joan Cox of Sevierville), 11 grandchildren ( Terri Foust,
Angela Smith, Stacy King, Clay Hendren, Kimberly Bell, Brian Hendren,
Lee Ann Shelton, Shawn Cox, Amy Ammons, Shannon Cox, and Brooke
Kimball), 23 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren,
nephews (Greg and Raymond Cox, Gary and Alan Bowling, Danny and Eddie
Cox), nieces (Pam Cox, Sue Clark, Pat Pressley), and her two best friends, Erma Pike and Mildred Hill.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, at Bethel
Baptist Church in Clinton from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will follow
and be officiated by Reverend J.C. Newman and Reverend Tom Dunlap will
also be speaking. Rosetta King will be buried at the Cox Cemetery on
Thursday.
