Rose Maxine (Whitfield) Portwood, age 87, of Harriman, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Manorhouse Assisted Living and Memory Care in Knoxville, TN. She was a long-time member of South Harriman Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by parents, Elias and Mary Whitfield; husband, Martin Wayne Portwood; son, Gary Portwood; and brother, Elias W. Whitfield, Jr. Survived by sisters, Jean Jacobs, Barbara Paul, and brother, Pat Whitfield and wife Lorellen; daughter-in-law, Melissa Blair; grandsons, Jeremy Portwood and wife Nicole, Matt Portwood and wife Callie; great grandchildren, Rook Portwood, Tallah Portwood, and Alice Portwood. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Manorhouse and Amedisys Hospice Services for their special, wonderful care.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton TN. Funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Matt Edwards officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment with Pastor Matt Edwards at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Clinton, TN.
