Robert Stephens passed from this life into his eternal glory on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Robert served as a School Crossing Guard with the Oak Ridge Police Department for the last 16 years. He was well known and loved by children and parents, always ensuring the safety of those under his care and watching over them as if they were his own. He went far beyond expectations, always taking special interest in the families he encountered, and was a trusted role model and mentor to all.

Robert was best known for his deep love of family, strong Christian faith, and kind and generous heart. He never allowed an opportunity to pass to help others or offer a smile and encouragement through hard times. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, close friends, and his beloved pet cats. Robert's life was defined by his humor, kindness, generosity, and quiet acts of service to anyone in need.

His kindness and generosity extended beyond his earthly life. As an organ donor, his gifts saved multiple people's lives in Colorado, North Carolina, and Florida.

Robert is survived by his sons, James (and wife Abby), and Lonnie Barker; Grandchildren, Giovanni and Cameron; Sister, Roseanna Williams, and Brother, James.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Telis Stephens, and his Brothers, Edward and Ronnie McCoy.

Receiving friends will be on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, 621 S Charles G Seivers Blvd, Clinton, TN 37716, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm with Chaplain Drew Mentzer officiating. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.
