Robert Eugene Pless, Sr., age 86 of Norris, passed away on December 22, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Clinton. He was born on February 12, 1928 in Knoxville to the late Paul W. Pless, Sr. and Laura Jean Reep Pless. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul W. Pless, Jr. ; sister, Lucina Pless Anderson . He worked for TVA for 25 years until he retired in 1987. He was a member of Andersonville Baptist Church from the time he was eleven years old. He taught Sunday School and was a deacon for 25 years as well as being active in all phases of the church.
He is survived by wife of 67 years, Mary Ruth Pless; daughter, Vickie Walker of Clinton; son, Robert E. Pless, Jr. and wife Teresa of Andersonville; grandchildren, Eric Schultz of Sweetwater, Jill Phillips of Clinton, Jennifer Lebus and husband Robert of Knoxville; great grandchildren, Brandon and Grayson Phillips of Clinton, Ethan, Preston and Lucas Ford of Knoxville and special family adopted grandson, Scott Cloninger of Sweetwater.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 27th at First Baptist Church of Andersonville. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm. Graveside services will follow immediately after at Norris Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Andersonville Baptist Church.
