Robert Clyde Fox was born on October 7, 1921 in the Dutch Valley community. He was the son of Jemina Hoskins Fox and Joseph Benjamin Fox. He attended Donovan Elementary School and graduated from Oliver Springs High School in 1939.
After high school, he worked at the hosiery mill in Greensboro, North Carolina. He came back to Tennessee and was employed at the ALCOA aluminum plant.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp and was sent to college at Center College in Danville, Kentucky. He was a 2nd Lt. in the Air Corp and had received his orders to fly the China-Burma "hump" when World War II ended.
He returned home and with his brother, Gene, ran Fox Bus Line. This service provided transportation for the workers going to and from Oak Ridge.
R.C. owned and operated a car lot in Oliver Springs and owned and operated school buses for the county.
In 1948, he began building houses in the area. He retired at the age of 84 and had built approximately 1200 houses in Oliver Springs, Oak Ridge and the surrounding area.
In 1950, he helped establish First Federal Saving and Loan in Oak Ridge later became Heritage Federal.
He was on the Board of Trustees of Carson Newman College for 25 years and in 1995 received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for outstanding service. He served on the Development Council at the University of Tennessee and was a charter member of the Nathan Daughtery Society. He was an avid football and basketball fan (both boys and girls)and attended many games. In 1998, he attended every football game, including the National Championship game.
He served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church, Oliver Springs for many years and was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Clinton.
He served as an Anderson County commissioner and was a councilman for the City of Oliver Springs. He was also a member of the Anderson County Planning commission.
He served on the board of Oak Ridge Hospital and after he retired, he volunteered there for 16 years. He served 3 times as a volunteer for the Tennessee Southern Baptist to Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) where he helped them build an earthen dam.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling and some of his favorite trips were to Rome and Switzerland. He enjoyed taking family trips to Hawaii, Glacier National Park and the beach.
All of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He loved many people whom he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jemina Hoskins and Joseph Benjamin Fox.
Brothers: Clarence, Charles, Gene and Alvin Fox.
Sisters: Myra Fox Hackworth and Mattie Fox Stringfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Maud Parten Fox.
Children: Martha (Rick) Gallman, Gary Fox, Laura (Joe) Roberts.
Grandchildren: Jeffrey (Meghan) Gallman, Molly Gallman Beckmann, Brian (Dana) Fox, Carmen (Luis) Quintana Fox, Benjamin Roberts and Nicholas Roberts. Great grandchildren, MacKenzie Beckmann, Annabelle Quintana-Fox, Marcus and Kara Gallman. Brother Lester (Mickey) Fox and sister Ruth (Dennie) Worthington. Sister-in-laws Irene Fox, Marion Stubbs, Myra Parten. Daughter-in-law Jamie Fox. Several beloved nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
A very special thank you to the wonderful caregivers: Brenda Chaney, Rhonda Brown, and Hazel Hall. The family wishes to sincerely thank all the friends, family and loved ones who have supported us with their prayers and out-pouring of love.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Clinton and from 11:00-12:00 pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2016 prior to the service at 12:00. The Rev. Stan Elliott will officiate.
An informal celebration of life will follow the service in the hearth room at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. The family invites guests to attend and if desired, share a short memory. His graveside will be at 4:00 pm at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. The Rev. Dean Buchanan will officiate the graveside with full military honors to follow.
