Rena Hensley Smith, age 87 of Clinton, as she put it "I'm going to fly away" accomplished this Thursday, September 6, 2012. Rena was a member of Jarnigan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and worked at Magnet Mills Hosiery. She lived a complete and happy life including playing basketball at Shinliver Elementary School, camping with family and friends and winning numerous horseshoe tournaments, cooking, raising and showing a family how to love unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by husband John L. Smith, Jr.; parents, George and Roxie Hensley; brothers, Earl, Barney, and Johnny Hensley; sisters, Axie Smith, Arvie Smith and Maggie Bumgardner.
Survived by sons, Thomas E. Smith, Gary W. Smith and wife Jackie; grandchildren, Brian and wife Lynne Smith, Casey Smith, Shannon and husband Neal Wilder and Wesley Smith; great grand-daughters, Hannah, Lindsey, Bailey, Roxy and Amelia; sister, Wilma and husband Don Ambrose; special friends, Floyd and Ruby Mack, Carolyn Price, Cindy Smith, Janet Bullock and Gail Bailey; host of friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 8th, from 2-4PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Rev.
