With joy and sadness, our family announces that on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, our mom, Polly Ann Russell Vickery at the age of 92, is enjoying her eternal life with her friends and loved ones who have gone on before her. Some of those include her husband Leonard Vickery, Mother and Father, Horace and Janie White Russell, brothers: Bill, Howard, Fred, Harry Lee and Joe Russell: Sisters: Mary Maude (Dugan) Duncan, Georgia Kelly, Zella Mae Stewart, Jessie Gibbs and Juanita who passed as an infant: Mary Ann Harper and Dewey Grundy who were considered as a sister and brother as well. Left to continue the example of her love and sacrifice are her children: Sons, Melvin (Patricia), Dexter (Teresa), Dennis, Mark and Stacy, Daughters, Phyllis (Ronnie) Woodard and Peggy Vickery, Grandchildren: Casey Lee (Thomas), Shawn Vickery (Christy), Melissa Melton (Robert), Lisa Berrios (David), Carrie Stewart (Brian), Daniel Vickery (Hannah), Victoria Phillips and Tiffany Brown (Eddie) and eighteen Great Grandchildren along with a brother and sister in law, Roy and Jean White Vickery. Aunt Polly held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews on both sides of our family and was shown love, respect and gratitude in their response to the love she had always shown their families, especially the Russell/White descendants as she was the only surviving family member. She spent many hours with family who wanted to go through her "Jottum down" scrapbooks and collections of many dates of births, deaths and interesting trivia about family and friends over the years.

Mom was born November 1, 1926 in Anderson County, TN. and lived most of her life in Marlow. She was an active member of the Poplar Creek Baptist Church since1948 when she accepted Christ as her Savior under the preaching of her Father in law, Pastor John Vickery. She served on committees, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and brought weekly lessons to the shut-ins before her health prevented her to do so. Mom worked in Magnet Mills until her first child was born, later writing the Marlow News for the Clinton Courier. She was well known for her stack cakes, her chicken and dumplings and her quilts which were displayed in Windrock Gallery. Mom loved to read and feed every person that came to her door.

The Vickery family wishes to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who called, sent a card, visited and especially prayed for our family during Mom's illness. So much love and support has been shown our family. We can't name all of you. May God bless you as you have blessed us, especially our sister, Peggy Vickery, Dr. Ann Carter, Avalon Hospice, Kat Childs, Poplar Creek Baptist Church, Jean White Vickery, Bertha Smith Lowe and Sheila Russell.

The family will receive friends 11:00-1:00 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.  Her funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Pastor Robert Melton officiating.  Polly's graveside will immediately follow at the Poplar Creek Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Poplar Creek Church Cemetery Fund, 490 Marlow Cr.
