Another World War II veteran has passed. Paul William Pless, Jr, 87, affectionately known as "Granddaddy", passed away in his home in Norris surrounded by his family on March 3, 2012. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Andersonville where he served as deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. Paul served 3 � years in the U.S. Army Air Force and retired from Y-12 after 27 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Conniff Pless "Mimi" with whom he shared 62 years of marriage and adored her each and every one. Together they raised a family, enjoyed numerous church activities, were involved in the community and rooted for the Lady Vols. He is also preceded in death by his mother, Laura Jean Reep Pless and father, Paul W. Pless, Sr, and sister, Lucina Pless.

He is survived by:

His brother, Robert Pless and wife Mary Ruth of Norris;
Daughter, Connie Jean Pless of Clinton;
Granddaughter, Heather McCarty and husband Kenny of Cookeville;
Granddaughter, Laura Pigman and husband Larry of Clinton;
Grandson, Michael Woosley and wife Christy of Clinton;
Great Granddaughter, Harley Pigman of Clinton;
Favorite Aunt and Uncle, Carroll Reep and wife Chan;
And many other special family members.

The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00PM, Monday, March 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Andersonville with funeral services following the visitation with Rev. Steve Lakin officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday at Andersonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Andersonville, 3949 Andersonville Highway, Andersonville, TN 37705.
