Obituary


Ovia Cross of Clinton passed away at 3:30 on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at U. T. Medical Center. He was a dialysis patient for the past 5 years. He retired from B.F. GoodRich in Oneida, Tennessee. He was a member & deacon of Fairview Baptist Church in Scott County, Masonic Lodge #695 of Robbins, Tennessee, a WWII Army Veteran and life time member of the DAV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Elizabeth Cross; daughter, Kathy Schmittling; sisters, Nevada Lowe, Nora Ward, & Pearl Owens; brother, Bratcher Cross.
Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Janis Cross of Clinton.
Daughter, Karen (Joanie) Phillips & husband Thad of Knoxville, Tn.
Mother-in-law, Minnie Lawson of Oneida, TN.
Sisters: .......Canzada Owens & Zora Burress of Ohio
Evelyn Lowe of Knoxville
Brothers: ......Arnold Cross & wife Dot of Smyrna, TN
Odell Cross & wife Ruth of Huntsville, TN
Caregiver & special friends: ...Dale Parton & Diane Holder
Several nieces, nephews and many friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 6-8PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 8:00 with Rev. Michael Jeffers & Rev. Clayton Duncan officiating. Singing will be provided by the Lloyd Family. In lieu of flowers, donation s may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
Family & friends will meet on Sunday, September 26th at 11:00AM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton for graveside services. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements
