Obituary

Ora "Mae" McKamey Pyke

"Dear God, May the expression of Your love through me leave others hungry to know You, thirsty to drink of Your soothing, refreshing truth, yearning to draw near to You and experience for themselves the wonder of Your grace. Show Yourself through me with such clarity that they see Jesus only. Amen." And He did just that, after saying her final "amen," Mae went home on September 11, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clarence Pyke; son, Jeffery; grandson, Nathan Kidwell; her parents, Ed and Velma Hunter McKamey; brothers, Lyndon, Albert, Bill and Bud McKamey. She is survived by her children, Shonna (Luke) Kidwell, Phil (Tammie) Pyke and Rhonda (Steve) Lynn; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeremy (Tara), Jared (Mariah) Kidwell, Wade Bass, Amber (Justin) Powers, Daniel Bass, Wesley Summers, Kayla Busby, Mathew Pyke and Skyler; great-grandchildren, Addyson Grace and Wyatt Kidwell; sisters, Dora Horton, Peg (Reuben) Bean, Carol
(Jess)Woodard, Mary (David) Brooks. Brothers, Jay (Melva), Andy (Pam) and Robert McKamey; sisters in law, Karen McKamey, Becky Young; brothers in law, Charles Pyke, Larry Parnell and Wade (Veronica) Holbrook. She was a lifelong member of Jarnigan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, she served our Lord, her family, and her church throughout her life. Her love was without measure to anyone who had the pleasure to call her Mom, Nana, sister and friend. She was blessed with the gift of hospitality, and let it be known that "the ground was always level at Nana's house." Always ready to stand in the gap for others, she was a faithful prayer warrior. The lessons learned at Nana's feet will reach future generations, as her legacy will continue on through all of us who were blessed to have known her. She lived her life with grace and poise, and even facing death, continued to teach us all that even though we are unaware of what tomorrow may hold, we can rest comfortably knowing that GOD is well aware of us. Services will be held at Batley Baptist Church, Saturday September 14, 2013, at 2:00PM with receiving of friends starting at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Jarnigan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com
