Norma "Ruth" Marcum, age 85 of Claxton, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at The Lantern at Morning Pointe. She was born on October 27, 1933 to the late Clarence Earl and Gladys Elizabeth Barker Harris in Riceville, TN. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Ruth loved her Lord and Savior and her precious family. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by, brothers, James Robert "Bob" Harris and Thomas Earl "Tommy" Harris; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo McGill, Patricia Ann Hammer, Cecile Pitts Marcum; brothers-in-law, Bob Hammer and Phillip Marvin Marcum; nephews, James "Marc" McGill, Scott Anthony Harris and Kevin Lotey.
She is survived by: husband of 66 years, James H. "Jimmy" Marcum; daughter, Teresa Ellen Marcum Vickery and husband Dexter of Clinton; son, Hal Marcum and wife Melissa of Salem, SC; grandchildren, Carrie Stewart and husband Brian of Powell, TN, Daniel Vickery and wife Hannah of Powell, TN, Katie Knight and Cory Pulaski of Blue Ridge, GA, Adam Johnson and wife Jesi of Marietta, GA, Tyler Johnson and wife Kristen of Harriman, TN, Lensey (Johnson) Stubbs and husband Justin Of Tullahoma, TN and Tanner Johnson of Clemson, SC; Great grandchildren, Jaden and Sophia Stewart, Noah Vickery, Gavin and Grayson Stubbs, Beckett and Baby Boy Johnson; several nieces and nephews; in-laws, James W. McGill, Jane Harris, Barbara Harris, Jean Hudson, Mickey Marcum and wife Terri; special caregiver, Debbi Armes and all caregivers and friends at Morning Pointe; very precious friends, Bill and Viola Adams, Jerry and Frances Parrett, Charles and Virginia Miller; and a host of other family and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 5-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Tim McGhee officiating. Graveside service will be on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11am at the Oak Ridge Memorial Park. www.holleygamble.com
