Nevada Jean (Eblen) White was called home to be with our Lord on May 11, 2011. Jean was born in Roane County, TN on Valentines Day in 1923, the eldest of two children of Theodore & Edna Arden Eblen. The family moved to Clinton when Jean was in first grade. She was involved in the CHS girls basketball team, chorus, glee club, & special groups which afforded her the opportunity to sing backup with Homer & Jethro. Her love of music & roller-skating took her to a portable skating rink in Lake City where she met her future husband Elbert (Red) White. They moved to Williamsburg, KY to raise their three children Norma Gail, Ronnie, & Regina, until 1952 when they moved back to Clinton where she lived until moving to Oak Ridge in the mid1980's. She retired from Union Carbide after 27 years in 1988. Mama Jean, as she was known to most who loved her, filled her life with her children, grandchildren & great-grand children. She loved to travel & enjoyed caring for friends & family. Jean was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church Clinton, Clinton, TN. Jean was a dedicated member of the reunion committee for CHS class of 1941. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore & Edna Eblen, her daughter Norma Gail & her son Ronald (Ron) White. She is survived by her daughter Regina (Gina) White Farley, grandson Brad Farley & wife Lee, granddaughter Shannon Wilson & husband Patrick, & great-grandchildren Max & Ada Mae Wilson. She also leaves behind many dear friends, cousins & extended family members. The family would like to express our thanks for the care, positive atmosphere & love from the Greenfield staff where she resided for the last year. The family also would like to express our thanks to Covenant Hospice staff for the over & above care they provided. Receiving of friends will be at Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton on May 15, 2011, receiving friends 1:30-2:30, service immediately following.
