S. Murrel Rose, age 89, of Powell, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center. Murrell was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Navy having serviced in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Knoxville News Sentinel as a circulation manager. Preceded in death by parents, Shirley and Essie Rose; sisters, Edith Warren, Clellis Houk and Carolyn Kirkland.

The family will have a graveside service 1:00pm, Wednesday at Woodhaven Memorial Garden with full military honors at graveside.
