Monique Helton, age 93, of Norris, passed away at her residence on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by family.  Monique was born on February 5, 1932, in Limoges, France, to the late Henri Pierre and Catherine Marie Cassant, both of whom were also born in Limoges, France. She was raised in Argenton-sur-Creuse, a town in the same region, where her father worked with the French Underground during World War II. Monique's journey to America in 1958, not knowing much English, was a testament to her resilience. She learned the language while living here, a feat that speaks volumes about her determination.

For many years, Monique loved to adventure and travel the world with her husband, Monas Helton. Their travels took them to many corners of the globe. She moved to Norris, Tennessee, in 1963 and volunteered with the Girl Scouts and Hospice. She was an avid animal lover, enjoyed gardening, and was a fabulous cook.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Monas Helton, who passed away on April 16, 1996.

Monique's love and care extended to her family and friends, whom she cherished dearly. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Byrne and Geraldine Helton & husband Terry; grandchildren, Augustus Bushnell & wife Stacey, Cody Bushnell and wife Leah Latourette, and Jessica Curlstrome; great-grandchildren, Adalee, Olivia, Mason, Hailey, Brooke, and Chase; and her best friend for over 85 years, Mary Rose Mascarenhas.

A Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923.
