Mildred Irene Jenkins Hensley, 88 of Rocky Top, Tennessee passed away February 27, 2016 at 12:10pm at NHC in Oak Ridge. Mildred was born February 23, 1928 in Powell, Tennessee. Mildred was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of Longfield Baptist Church in Rocky Top. Mildred had a servant's heart and will be sadly
missed by her family, relatives, friends, church and community. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Henry Clay Hensley, parents Sam and Bonnie Flanigan Jenkins and brother Lee Alvin Jenkins (Dortha). Mildred is survived by daughters Mary DeLozier, Wanda Baird (Jerry) and son Sam (Lucy) Hensley. Grandchildren Alisa Beard, Rob Baird (Suzanne), Rebecca Leach (Dustin) and Clay Hensley. Great-grandson Jacob Beard. Step-greatchildren Hannah, Nelson, and Miles Tate. The family extends a special thank you to the caregivers Angie Stafford, Chris Scriver, Brenda Smith and the staff at NHC Oak Ridge and Caris Hospice for their compassionate care of our loved one.
The family will receive friends at Longfield Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 2 from 5:00-7:00PM with the funeral service to follow at 7:00PM with the Rev. Mark Stanley officiating. Family and friends wishing to attend her graveside service will meet at Bell's Campground in Powell, TN on Thursday March 3, 2016 for an 11:00AM interment.
