Kennedy, Mildred "Toots" - age 91, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012. She was born June 12, 1921 and was a member of Second Baptist Church. She always had a hug for family and friends, and her gracious nature will be remembered by all who knew her. She was a long time employee of Magnet Mills until the mill closed in 1967, then worked at Cato's in Clinton until she retired. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William "Bill" Kennedy; parents, Hobart and Bess Disney; father and mother in-law, Sterling and Effie Kennedy; sister, Helen Denny; son-in-laws, James Nix and Hugh Kennedy. She is survived by daughters, Billie Sue Miller and son-in-law Schubert Miller, and Kay Nix Kennedy of Clinton; grandchildren, Kim Cawood and husband Lynn of Knoxville, Mark Nix and wife Dottie of Cumming, GA, Tonya Ertel and husband Greg of Clinton, Jon Nix and wife Jeanne of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Haley Meredith of Clinton, Emily and Jarred Nix of Cumming, GA, Kelly, Jessica, J.J., James, Jordan Nix of Knoxville; sisters, Jean Monroe of Kokomo, IN and Dorothy Weiss of Torrance, CA, and special sister-in-law Emma Seymour of Clinton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank everyone who visited and sent cards during her illness, and thank the staff at Golden Living Center- Windwood for their care and kindness. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 8th, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Holly-Gamble Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 2 o'clock with Rev. Randall Jarnigan officiating.
