Maxine Holaday Riggs Long, age 94, of Norris, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 5, 2024. She was born to the late Harry and Hazel Holaday on June 1, 1930, in New Orleans, LA. Maxine was a member of Byrams Fork Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she had a passion for gardening, reading, and nature, enjoyed watching birds and caring for her flowers, and, most importantly, cherished spending time with her family. Maxine spent many of her years caring for elderly individuals at their homes.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Clifford Riggs; 2nd husband, Orrin Long; sister, Marguerite Russell; grandchildren, Roy Riggs, Raina Riggs, and Jeremy Riggs; and best friend, Myrtle Ezell.

She is survived by her children, Norman Dale Riggs & wife Yumi of Woodbridge, VA, Kenneth Lynn Riggs & wife Vedra of Halls, Darlene Cox of Clinton, and Judy Ezell & husband David of Norris; grandchildren, Angela Speilman, Anna Laster, Adam Cox, Andy Riggs, John-David Ezell; great-grandchildren, Devin Speilman, Alexis Riggs, Victoria Laster, Vance Laster, Avian Laster, Sage Cox, Evin Cox, and Matthew Jeremy Riggs; sister, Helen Sumpter; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm, Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Holley Gamble Funeral.  Her funeral service will follow in the chapel, and Rev. Brian Riggs will officiate.  Maxine's graveside will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at New Loyston Cemetery.
