Stooksbury, Maurice Claude, age 96, a resident of Norris, Tennessee for 70 years, passed away peacefully at Golden Living Center in Clinton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Andersonville and a member of the Andersonville Masonic Lodge #383 for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII. Maurice retired from TVA with 37 years of service. He was a member of the first graduating class of Norris High School in 1936.
Preceded in death by parents, Issac Emory and Myrtle Witt Stooksbury; brothers, James, Lowell, and Walter; sisters, Opal Wallace, Lennie Stooksbury and Buena Stooksbury.
Survived by wife of 74 years, Thelma Dyer Stooksbury; brother, Conley and wife Barbara; son, Walter and wife Jan; daughter, Mauriece Claudette and husband Joel Grayson; son, Dennis Stooksbury; grandchildren, Karen Queen, Buddy Queen III, Kevin and wife Beth Stooksbury and Dena Stooksbury; multiple nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
A family memorial graveside service will be held at Sinking Springs Methodist Church cemetery with Pastor Steve Lakin officiating on Thursday, September 20th, at 10:00AM.
