Maude Brooks King, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 6 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born in Anderson County where she lived most of her life. Her husband, Chandler King, operated a Gulf service station at Tulane and Turnpike in Oak Ridge for 31 years. Maude helped with bookkeeping and also operated a small motel in Claxton with Chandler's sister and brother-in-law.
Over the years, Maude and Chandler enjoyed traveling to almost all of the 50 states, as well as many countries abroad. Maude is survived by two sisters, Virginia Crow of Heiskell, TN, and Bette (Bobby) Mosteller of Chatsworth, Ga. as well as her daughter, Margaret (Rob) Burroughs of Chattanooga, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, on Wednesday, March 9, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Moore's Gap Methodist Church in Heiskell on Thursday, March 10, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery
