Matthew Theodore Smith, 21, passed away on October 17, 2012, at his residence.
Matthew was born August 14, 1991, in Oak Ridge, to Lawrence Smith, Jr. and Brenda Russell Smith. He graduated from Anderson County High School in 2008 and received a General Machinist diploma from Tennessee Technology Center in Jacksboro in 2011. He was employed at Scrap Metal Solutions in Clinton.
Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Russell Smith; grandfather, Cecil Russell; grandfather Lawrence Smith, Sr.; and grandmother, Imogene Smith.
Matthew is survived by his father Lawrence and stepmother, Connie, of Clinton; his grandmother, Martha Russell, of Lake City; his brothers Thomas Smith of Lake City and Michael Smith, of Caryville; stepbrother Aaron Wilson; stepsister Amy Burns; uncles Denny Russell and wife Valerie, and Eric Russell; and cousins James Toomey and wife Helen, and Denny Toomey and wife Connie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at Warren Memorial Gardens in Pioneer, Tennessee (Elk Valley).
