Mary S. Ownby, 79 of Norris, went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2015 at home under hospice care, after battling cancer for 17 years. Mary was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She spent years serving others by driving Military Vets, a school bus and delivering prescriptions for the Clinton Drug Store. She enjoyed working benevolence at Second Baptist Church in Clinton where she was a member. Mary was preceded in death by parents Troy and Louise Sims.

She is survived by sister Linda Alexander (Steve); children, Allen Hurd, Kathryn Gray, Vickie Hurd, Dianna McCoy, Loretta Evans and Georgie Ball (Brian); grandchildren, Allen Hurd, Lucas Hurd (Jennifer), Matthew Gray, Daniel McCoy, April Nelson, Andrew Moore (Mandy), Jacob Ball; 10 great-grandchildren, several cousins and nieces. A special thank you to her nurses Erica, Pat and Merile of Tennova Hospice Care.

The family will receive friends Sunday March 1st from 12-2 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will begin at 2, officiated by Rev. Lucas Hurd, followed by the internment at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called" 1 Tim. 6:12.
