Mary Helen Watrous Longmire of Andersonville, Tennessee, passed peacefully on January 16, 2026. She was 96 years old.
Born May 25, 1929, to Ben and Louise Watrous, she forever cherished her hometown of Fountain City, Tennessee, and her beloved Central High School Bobcats, whose fight song she never forgot. She was a cradle Methodist and a member of Andersonville United Methodist Church for 63 years.
Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hubert H. Longmire; daughter Sara Longmire; sisters Sara Appleton and Nancy Watkins; and brother Benjamin Watrous, Jr. She is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren: sons Robert Longmire (Jill) and Charlie Longmire (Sandy); daughter Catherine Longmire; grandsons Paul Longmire (Courtney) and Matthew Longmire; and granddaughter Jodi McCoy (Blake); as well as her adored great-grandchildren (Rhett, Ramsey, Hallie, Parker, Reed, and Case) and many other treasured family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, with the funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Andersonville Cemetery following the service.
The family would especially like to thank the dedicated staff of Meadow View Senior Living of Clinton, the Lantern at Morning Pointe in Powell, and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they provided Mary Helen.
