Mary Hammond, age 100, of Andersonville, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center.  Mary was born on April 13, 1924, to the late Albert and Stella Cook. Mary was a Norris First Baptist Church member and an elementary school teacher while she lived in Florida.  Mary will be remembered for her community work and her profound love for the residents of Anderson County, a love that was felt by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Patrick and Bennett Hammond; son, Jerry Patrick; sons, Leonard Hammond and Jack Hammond.

She is survived by daughters, Lynnette Currie & husband Jack of Andersonville and Zola McClish of Monroe, OH; daughter-in-law, Jean Hammond of Mt. Dora, FL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have a graveside service at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 22, 2024, at Prosperity Cemetery.  Mary will have a Celebration of Life service held at Norris First Baptist Church, and the date and time will be announced later by Holley Gamble Funeral Home.  Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.  holleygamble.com
