Mary
Brock
May 6, 1934 — Aug 25, 2026
Clinton
Mary A. Brock, age 92, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Mary was born on May 6, 1934, in Clinton to the late Wilce and Alma Rayfield.
Mary retired from ORNL/X-10, where she worked as an instrument technician for more than 20 years. She was a faithful member of South Clinton Baptist Church and a devoted Christian whose faith was an important part of her life.
Above all else, Mary loved her family. They were truly the center of her world, and the time she spent with those she loved meant more to her than anything. She had a special way of making people feel loved and welcomed, and her kindness, warmth, and caring spirit made her a special to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Mary also treasured the many wonderful days spent on her houseboat on beautiful Norris Lake. Those peaceful days on the water, surrounded by family and friends, created memories that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those she loved.
She also enjoyed gardening and cooking and was especially known for her beautiful flowers and the many delicious meals she prepared for her family. Her family will also fondly remember, with plenty of laughter, that no matter how good of a cook she was, Mary had a habit of forgetting the bread in the oven—so burnt bread often became part of the meal and part of the memories.
Mary leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, faith, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely and the special memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Erwin Brock, whom she was married to for 70 years; infant daughter, Karen; daughter-in-law, Janet R. Brock; sisters, Irene Pratt, Blanche Tisdale, Beulah Martin, and Maxine Rietz.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Steven Brock (Janice) and Janice Brock; grandsons, Alex Frye (Jessica), Lucas Frye ( Morgan), and Nate Brock (Grace); great-grandchildren, Hayden, Sawyer, Silas, Walker, and Wiley Jo Frye; sister, Glenna Webster ( Larry); along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Mitchell Webster. Her graveside will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
