Margaret Seale Riggsbee of Clinton, Tennessee departed this life on June 17, 2014. She was born in Anderson County TN on April 14, 1919 to Minnie Yarnell Seale and William Sherman Seale. She was preceded in death by her parents, only sister Dorothy Seale Vogt, husband of 60 years Dr. John Riggsbee and grandson James Southerland.

Margaret graduated from Central High School in Knoxville the University of Tennessee. She has always been an avid sports fan, especially of the Tennessee Volunteers football team the Lady Vols basketball team. In her four years at UT, she did not miss a home game and in 1940 she rode to California to watch the Vols play in the Rose Bowl.

Margaret's college major was education in math and she taught for 2 years in Nashville and 2 years in Clinton. Later after moving to Atlanta Georgia, she tutored high school students who were having problems with Algebra. She taught several Adult Sunday School classes in the Baptist church over a span of 20 years and participated in many other church activities.

Margaret and her husband John lived numerous places in the United States during his Navy and medical career and retired to Maryville, TN later in life. At the age of 82, she moved back to Clinton where her husband John passed away. She continued to live in Clinton until moving to Oklahoma to be near her daughter Nancy. She was in assisted living in Oklahoma until she felt the urge to return to her roots in Tennessee and she has lived in Clinton up until her death at age 95.

Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Nancy and husband Vance Massey of Claremore OK, and Susan Sallin of Birmingham, AL and her two sons Mark RIggsbee of Dowelltown, TN and Edwin Riggsbee and wife Nancy Ann of Knoxville, TN.

Also surviving are five grandchildren: Colonel David Southerland, William Southerland, Megan Thomas, Michelle Tindal, and Bracken Sallin; eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 20th from 6-8PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 21st at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stan Elliott officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com
