Margaret Smith Gilbert, was born on June 8th in 1942, to the late Ed and Kate Robertson Smith, of Tigerville, SC. She was one of 18 children but grew up happy and content.

She moved to Albany, Ga, got married and had a baby girl named Kimberly. She moved around a lot but she and her husband, Stephen, finally settled in Augusta, Ga.  In 1975, with special thanks to her life-long friend and neighbor, Gloria Prather, she met Jesus and began a life-long relationship with her Savior.  Their pastor and mentor Rev. Wade Trimmer, provided decades of invaluable wisdom, mentoring and friendship.

In 1983, her husband Stephen began a very lengthy cancer journey. For over 25 years, Margaret was his constant care-taker.

In 2005, Margaret and Stephen moved to Clinton, TN to be near their daughter, Kimberly, her husband Larry, and their greatly-adored grandsons, Josh and Zac.

When Stephen passed away in 2017, Margaret's health began to decline and she never truly recovered. She loved Jesus, was an avid reader but she mostly just enjoyed being with her family.

Margaret is survived by Daughter, Kim (Larry) Llanusa; grandsons, Josh (Courtney) Llanusa and Zac (Amanda) Llanusa; great grandchildren Rhealee, Kinslee, Oaklee, Jolee, Harrison and Jackson; brother, Devoe Smith; sister, Tweedie Mae Perry; brother, Thomas Gilbert; many nieces and nephews; special "little daughter" Pam Bakker.

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses and caregivers of Covenant Hospice for the loving care given to Margaret.
