Obituary


Luther C. Maples, age 89 of Powell passed away July 19, 2011. He was a member of Edgemoor Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was retired from Y-12 and was a U. S. Army Veteran having served during WWII in Normandy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Parlin & Alice Maples; sisters, Neicy Easterday, Ruth Barber; brothers, Dan, Carson "Cotton" and Henry Maples.

Survivors:

Wife: Kathleen Maples of Powell

Daughter: Judy Coffman of Heiskell

Grandchildren: William Coffman & wife Sue of Heiskell
Sonya McWilliams & husband Mike of Knoxville

Great-Grandchildren: Katie & Sarah Coffman
Patrick & Declan McWilliams

Sisters: Lucy Tidmore & Nancy Brown, both of Knoxville

Special Nephew: J. W. Stooksbury of Claxton

Several nieces & nephews and host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6-8PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral following at 8:00PM in the chapel with Rev. Charles Fritts & Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating.

Family & friends will meet at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton on Friday, July 22nd at 10:00AM for graveside services. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com
