Lottie Irene Kegley, born in Roane County on August 27, 1928 and passed away at Briarcliff Nursing Home in Oak Ridge on August 29, 2013. She was preceded in death by husband, Tracy Mitchel Kegley; parents, Benjamin Wilson Coward and Maggie Etta Phillips Coward; brothers, Lee and Benjamin Coward; sister, Mary Coward; brother-in-law, Charles Bull.

She is survived:
Sons. Joseph Kegley of Charlotte, N.C.
William Kegley & wife Molly of Clinton
Granddaughters. Mary Kate & Anna Kegley
Sister. Beth Bull
Sister-in-law. Betty Coward
Several nieces and nephews

Irene grew up in the Jonesville Community of Roane County and graduated from Oliver Springs High School in 1947 as class valedictorian. She later graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. She worked at Oak Ridge Hospital and Emory University before marrying and becoming a homemaker.

She loved gardening, growing flowers, bird watching and helping others. She was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she taught children in Sunday school and bible school.

The family wishes to thank the care givers at Briarcliff for taking great care of Mrs. Kegley.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel. Her burial will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday at the Jonesville Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. holleygamblefh.com
