Kermit Bronell Reedy passed away at home on May 17, 2013. Kermit was born April 5, 1930, he was 83 years old. Visitation will be held at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm. Flowers are appreciated or donations can be made to the Cancer Support Community of East Tennessee.
Kermit is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Reedy and their children; son Rolf Reedy and daughter Pam Reedy and her husband Shelby Smith. Grandchildren are; Grandson Austin Keathley, his wife Carrissa Keathley, Granddaughter Hannah Keathley and Great Grandson Haiden Keathley-son of Austin and Carrissa. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Keith Reedy, his parents Vonnie Otto and Nora Jane Reedy and his half-sister June Dufone.
Long-time Oak Ridge resident, Kermit was born in Tazewell, TN. In his youth he worked for a radio station in Middlesboro, Kentucky where he was the station's technician and one of their radio DJs. He graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN with a Bachelors of Science in Physics. In his early adult years he worked for Union Carbide Nuclear Company at the Y12 National Security Plant in Oak Ridge, TN. Kermit left the employment for entrepreneurship. He was a self-employed contractor for many years building homes and businesses. He was a recreational pilot; building, owning and flying small engine aircrafts.
