Katie Rose Stroud Vaughan passed away unexpectedly at UT Medical Center on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
She was born on October 4, 1949, the daughter of Bessie M. Stroud and A.H. "Bud" Stroud.
Katie graduated from Clinton High School in 1967 and later received her Associates Degree in computer technology from the Tennessee School of Automation. Her successful career as an Implementation Project Manager spanned several decades across multiple fields including healthcare, insurance, telecommunications, and human resource information systems.
Katie loved to travel and her career afforded her the luxury of "being on the road" most of the time. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and watching Hallmark movies in her free time. Katie had a passion for animals and cared for many furry children over the course of her life.
Katie loved and was loved by her family including husband Bill Martin, as well as sisters Margaret Prewitt (husband Bruce) and Thresa Stroud (husband Nathan Davis), and brother Clay Good (wife Barbie).
She also loved and enjoyed her many cousins, nieces, nephews: Connie and Phil Schmutz; Peggy Purdom (husband Robert), Amanda Purdom, Bryce Purdom; Marcia Mask (husband Daniel Jersey), Sam Mask; Shane Prewitt; Emily Haile (Josh), Kiera Haile; Hanna King; J. Quinton Snodgrass (Abigail), Olive Snodgrass, Eli Snodgrass; Kristi Davis; Holly Davis, Leia Davis-Dillman; Rob Davis (Vin); Tall James Davis (Alexa), June Davis; Jamie Davis; and Gwenie Long.
She treasured her many dear friends including Glenn South, Yoshiko Perry, Betty Epperson, Terri Stukey, Ron Stair, and Dorothy Ezell Smith.
She also enjoyed her time with her step-children, Greg Martin (Deborah Morris) and Wendy Waters and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Waters.
Katie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bessie and Bud, step-father, Clay Good, Sr., and special friend Ed Parrot.
A Celebration of Life for Katie will be held at Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to Katie's favorite charity, Friends of Oak Ridge Animal Shelter.
