Junior Ooten, age 78 of Clinton passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Junior was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Claxton. Throughout his life, he loved woodworking, farming, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merida Ooten, Sr. and Flora Hicks Ooten; brothers, Cecil Ooten and Larry Ooten; sisters, Joyce O'Conner, Kay Ooten, and Phyllis Ooten.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Ooten; children, Vickie Liles & husband Hank, Karen Ooten of Clinton, and Steven Ooten & wife Niki of Clinton; grandchildren, Bo Pebley, Jessica Pebley, Lynnsey Garegnani, Ariel Talmage, Lucas Liles, Peyton Ooten, and Dustin Ooten; great grandchildren, Kasen Hackworth, Brantly Talmage, Brooke and Aubrey Pebley, Piper Pebley, Emerson Talmage, Cooper Talmage, Maddux Jackson, & Ellie Liles; sister, Jean Watson, June Watts, and Tammy Ooten; brother, Jack Ooten & wife Mary, Keith Ooten & wife Paulette, Carl Ooten & wife Jan, and Jerry Ooten & wife Gretchen; several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Billy Moore and Rev. Brandon Pebley officiating. Junior's graveside will be 11:00 am, Wednesday at Dutch Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
