Joseph Alfred Wallace Sr., age 84, of Andersonville, TN; walked into the arm of his Lord on July 10, 2013 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents; Mirma and Myrtle Wallace; infant daughter Tonya Marie; sister, Anna Schuster and brothers, Ray and William Wallace.

Joe loved and was loved by 38 Nieces and Nephews.

Joe was a member of Andersonville First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Junior boys Sunday School Teacher, Adult Sunday School Class Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. Joe spent countless hours ministering in his local community in the form of meals, visits and prayers. He was also a past president of Andersonville Lions Club, District Representative of AARP, past president of the Fountain City Sportsman Club. Joe was instrumental in the formation of NAGAF where he not only helped found the organization; he also coached football, soccer and basketball for many years. One of his greatest legacies is how Joe touched so many lives of the young people of Anderson County. Joe valued education and attended Milligan College and the University of Tennessee.

Joe started out teaching at the Braden's Flat School in Anderson County. Joe and Kathleen also owned and ran a general store in Andersonville. He worked at Ridge Instruments in Orlando, Florida, K-25 and Y-12 facilities in Oak Ridge. Joe retired from TVA and the taught at the Anderson County Career and Technical Center. Most recently Joe supported Andersonville Elementary School (the school he and Kathleen attended together) by volunteering in the mornings.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 13th from 1-3PM at Andersonville First Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Steve Lakin, Rev. Gene Wood and Rev. Frits Havercamp officiating. Burial will follow at Andersonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Andersonville First Baptist Mission Fund.
