Obituary

Joie Ray Szozda, "Lucky Joe" passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his home. He was a proud father and grandfather and loved his family more than anything. He enjoyed spending time with them, taking them out to eat and always had wild stories to tell. In his younger days, he worked as a window washer on the tallest skyscrapers in Chicago. He also worked in the deepest copper mines of Arizona. He was a veteran having served in the United State Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. "Lucky Joe" enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines. His wild and crazy stories will never be forgotten and live on forever. Preceding in death, parents Doreen and Ray Szozda and brother-in-law Don Dixon.

Survived by children Shane Matchette and wife Whitney, Joseph Matchette and wife Melissa, Dina Denault and husband Lance; sister Pam Dixon; grandchildren Carson, Kyden, Kaylee, Canon and Wilder Matchette, Terry, Brittany, Candace, Jake and Hanna Denault; niece Mandie Dixon; and many great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and friends.

Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 at 10:00AM for Joie's inurnment with Reverand Tony McAfee officiating. In lieu of flowers you can donate to the Veterans Memorial Fund at Covenant Life Church, 151 Sycamore Pl, Clinton, TN, in honor of Joie.
