John Arlis Stephens , age 53, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon June 16. He was preceded in death by parents Arlis Marion and Helen Nadine Heatherly Stephens . He is survived by his brother Joseph Stephens , special cousins Sue Ellen Nidiffer, Emily Russell, Kathy Jeffers Smith, aunts Maxine Stephens Jeffers, Sue Heatherly Miller, Bobbie Heatherly Kirkpatrick, uncle Evan Heatherly (and wife Oma) as well as a host of extended family.

Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m to 7:00p.m. on Wednesday June 21 at Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The family will meet at 4:30p.m. on Thursday June 22 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton to form a procession to Baker's Forge Memorial Cemetery, near LaFollette, for a 6:00p.m. interment service.

John was born at Oak Ridge Hospital on August 7, 1963. He attended Cedar Hill Elementary school Glenwood Elementary School, Shinliver Elementary School, and Clinton Junior High School. He graduated from Clinton Senior High School in 1979. He was a member of the Youth Conservation Corps, stationed at Norris Dam State Park the summer of 1979. Later he worked as a security guard. John enjoyed visiting Dollywood and keeping up with his old classmates on facebook.
