John Henry Coobs, age 88 of Norris, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011. He was a very active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. He was a mentor for the Anderson County School System and he recorded books for Reading for the Blind. John retired from ORNL and was a member of the Recycling Committee in Norris, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lucinda Coobs; children, Susan Ann and David Alan Coobs; sister, Jessie Tornowske.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie S. Coobs; son, John S. Coobs and wife Caydea; sister, Nancy Donlon; grandchildren, Erich E. and Reeve Coobs; a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 2:00PM with Rev. Joe Minarik officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 29, Norris, TN 37828.
