John William "Bill" Prewitt, age 87, of Lake City, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. He was born in June 10, 1926 in Chevrolet, KY to the late Martin and Eva Prewitt. Bill was a member of the New Life Church of Nazarene in Oak Ridge. Bill was a veteran having served in The United States Army during WWII. He was also very active in the community; He was an active member of the Lake City Lions club and has been a member since 1958, Advisor to Board of Education and the Chairman of the Jim Ed Lawson Memorial Christmas Basket Fund. Bill also retired from ORNL in Oak Ridge after working for 41 years. In addition to his parents Bill is preceded in death by Sister, Rosalee Garrett; Brother, Earl Prewitt; Stepsister, Donnie Hackworth; Stepbrother, Homer Gross.

The family will receive friends at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 5-7PM with the funeral service to follow at 7:00PM with the Rev. Keith Robinson officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:30PM and go in funeral procession to the Oak Grove Cemetery for a 3:00PM interment with full military honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jim Ed Lawson Memorial Christmas Basket Fund in memory of Bill and sent to P.O. Box 88 Lake City, TN 37769.
